This course offers instruction on First Aid Training including: emergency response; bleeding, shock, and soft tissue injuries; bone, joint, and muscle injuries; sudden illness; and heat and cold-related illness and injury. This course provides an introduction to Bloodborne Pathogens and OPIM including: HBV, HCV and HIV; safety and prevention in the workplace including: hygiene, clean up and personal protective equipment; exposure incidents and follow-up. This course provides YMCA maintenance personnel, aquatics professionals, and executive directors with basic knowledge of water chemistry, filtration, environmental control, risk reduction, cost effectiveness, and safe pool operation. Manual: YMCA Pool Operations Manual, third edition (0-87322-656-9), $35. Manual is $35 dollars. Your center should have a manual. If not, please contact srasmussen@ymcammidtn.org and she will order one for you. Required for ALL Aquatic Directors and Property Managers. Also recommended for all those who supervise aquatics and pool shift leaders. Location: Downtown YMCA Cost: $70 To register, click HERE 01/22/2010 12:00pm - 6:00pm Participants learn the skills necessary for the administration of CPR. They learn to recognize a life threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support, and what to do in case of any airway obstruction or choking; CPR certification must include training for administering CPR to adults, children and infants, as well as additional training in two rescuer CPR, modified jaw thrust and use of pocket mask and bag valve mask resuscitators. This course meets the requirements for YMCA Lifeguard courses. Also, provides training on administering emergency oxygen, rescue breathing and oxygen delivery devices.
